about

Hi, I'm Alayna, a 21-year-old Singaporean currently based in France.

Most days I am a full-time undergrad, and photography is my passion project. I believe photography is a way of seeing: To photograph is to choose to process the world visually. I am most fascinated with the interaction of people with their residential space, be it their permanent or temporary home. My photography projects revolve around celebrating human interaction and collaboration, and the diversity of big metropolitan cities and small rural communities -- there are so many ways to live, and to find happiness. I look for ways to document how people define and search for life in the nooks and crannies of the world.

The media featured on this site is a mix of digital and film photography, depending on the nature of the work. Where I can, I prefer film: to not chase life but to be thoughtful about documenting it.

I'm currently pursuing a Double Bachelors with the National University of Singapore and Sciences Po Paris. My specialisation in Political Humanities and Political Science influence my creative vision a lot.

I describe myself as an ambivert who actively seeks to redefine the lens with which I, and others, view the world. My great faith in the power of stories guides an eagerness to listen to passionate people tell stories of their life, love and work.
